D’envergure internationale — cinq des artistes sont de Montréal, les autres de France, de Belgique ou des États-Unis —, Déliquescence
est surtout marquée par son étendue dans le temps. Il y a toutes ces
oeuvres dont le processus n’est jamais terminé. Puis, la commissaire
fait un clin d’oeil à l’histoire, à son histoire, notamment en incluant
des artistes qui avaient déjà exposé à la Fonderie Darling.
Nicole McDonald Fournier, artiste écoresponsable par excellence, est de celles-là. Et son installation Paysage emballe-toi !, placée jadis pendant des années à l’extérieur du bâtiment, est un programme de… mille ans (2012-3012). Sa démesure temporelle est une réponse à la surconsommation. L’oeuvre ancrée dans la bioremédiation vise à entraver la pollution de vêtements usagés en les intégrant à un écosystème de plantes et de micro-organismes.

essay was commissioned in early 2011, by the League of Resonance – a
Melbourne artist group comprising Jason Maling, Jess Olivieri and Sarah
Rodigari. In this piece, I try to tease out an anatomy of sorts for
their particular brand of socially engaged art practice. Much of the
underlying information comes from an interview I did with the artists in
early 2011.

To
draw attention to a production method of image and sound, a number of
viewpoints are proposed in this paper to do with cinematic traditions.
This brings forth a privilege of contemplating images, within the sounds
of electroacoustic music, images of a film, and language-based images
in poetry. Engaging with the practice of recording the natural
environment, traces of sound, image, and language may point to
environments of distance.
