2018 - View of exhibition installation of "Portrait of Plants", in plates on a table, at La Quiñonera, Mexico City, Mexico
Created through the process of picking harvests leaves, berries and flowers in a garden nearby, my land , mon terrain, in Ville Saint-Laurent, Montreal, or now called Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal, Québec. Or, as well, I harvest from the garden that is closest to where I am creating, performing the drawing.
I also have referred to this process as "Drawing with plants", "Performance and evolving drawings" - "Performative Drawings" or "Edible Vegetation Transformation Drawings"
The results create an effect of staining and fading that is the evolution of living plant matter, juices and how the chemistry, the molecule, nutrients, natural composition of the juice that comes out of the leaves, berries and flower, reacts to the oxygen in the air, immediately and over time, on paper. This is all part of the performance, an intrinsic quality of the performance and the actual physical drawing's nature and, of course, the result of the performance and concept
